Czechs: Nuclear power good despite Japan disaster

The catastrophe at Japan's Fukushima nuclear power complex should not be allowed to call into question of the wisdom of atomic energy, Czech President Vaclav Klaus said on Friday. "After the tsunami wave hit the Fukushima power plant, some governments decided not to build new nuclear power plants and some even to abandon nuclear energy as such," Klaus said in a speech to the U.N. General Assembly.

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan to discuss boosting economic cooperation in Baku

EU takes plunge into Caspian pipeline talks

The European Commission (EC) last week took the unprecedented step of requesting and receiving authority from the European Council to assist in negotiations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. Specifically, the EC has received a formal mandate from the council on the signing of a legally binding agreement for implementation of the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline (TCGP) project.

Uzbekistan, China sign cooperation memorandum

Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC ) Wu Bangguo and Uzbekistan Oliy Majlis (Parliament) Senate chairman Ilqizar Sobirov signed a memorandum on cooperation between the two countries in Uzbekistan on Wednesday, Uzbekistan parliament reported.
